Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Crematorium worker removing ashes from a furnace two hours after loading a coffin and dead body into the furnace. The furnaces at crematoriums are designed to completely incinerate human bodies, including bone, and operate at very high temperatures (here, 850 degrees Celsius). The workers wear protective clothing designed to protect them from the heat. This clothing includes heat-resistant padded gloves, reflective coats, and mirrored visors.
