Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Lokomat walking therapy. Doctor watching a female patient on a treadmill as she uses the Lokomat therapy system. This consists of a robotic gait orthosis (leg braces) and a body weight support system. The robotic leg braces are adjusted (computer at lower right) to imitate and assist the patient during treadmill rehabilitation sessions. Typical patient conditions include stroke, spinal cord or brain injury, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease. Produced by the Swiss company Hocoma, the Lokomat has been available since 2001.
