Caption: Bubble chamber scanner Renee Jones at work at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) near Chicago, Illinois. Jones sits at a table onto which a bubble chamber photograph is projected from overhead. Her left hand is on the "tracker ball", a control which enables her to move the image in any direction. Her right hand is by a computer keyboard which she uses to call up the photographs. Her job is to measure the positions, lengths, angles & curvatures of the tracks. This data enables physicists to identify the particles that produce the tracks. (June '84)
