Caption: Bay boletus mushrooms (Boletus badius). These are the fruiting bodies, reproductive structures, of the fungi. The gills on the underside of the cap contain millions of spores, the reproductive cells of the fungi. These mushrooms are edible and considered good eating. They are found growing in leaf litter and on decaying wood throughout Europe and north North America. Photographed in October in Cornwall, UK.
