Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Tropical fish breeding research. Marine biologist with equipment used to study coral reef fish fry (on screen). There is concern that the capture of adult fishes directly from the reef to supply the pet trade will have increasing detrimental effects on the wild populations. This research is being done to find a viable breeding process that will produce tropical marine fish to supply the ornamental pet trade as an alternative to wild species. Photographed at the Marine Research Centre in the Maldives.
