Caption: Aage and Niels Bohr, Danish physicists. At left is Danish physicist Aage Niels Bohr (1922-2009). Writing on the blackboard is his father, the Danish physicst Niels Henrik David Bohr (1885-1962). Neils Bohr proposed the idea of electron shells and quantized energy levels. This led to the award of the 1922 Nobel Prize in Physics. Aage Bohr shared the 1975 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on quantum mechanical descriptions of nuclear deformations. From 1946, father and son worked together at the Niels Bohr Institute for Theoretical Physics, in Copenhagen, Denmark, with Aage taking over as director after his father's death.Restrictions:
