Caption: American Physical Society awards, 1975. From left to right are physicists Ludwig Dmitrievich Faddeev (USSR, born 1934, Dannie Heineman Prize for Mathematical Physics), Chien-Shiung Wu (China-USA, 1912-1997, Tom W. Bonner Prize in Nuclear Physics), and Homer Dupre Hagstrum (USA, 1915-1994, Davisson-Germer Prize in Atomic or Surface Physics). Faddeev works on quantum theory. Wu worked on the Manhattan Project to build the atomic bomb. Hagstrum worked on spectroscopic analysis of surfaces. This prize-giving took place at the Washington, USA, meeting of the APS, on 30 January 1975.
