Those present are: French nuclear chemist Irene Joliot-Curie (seated, 1897-1956), French physicist Maurice Moshe Surdin (behind Joliot-Curie, 1911-2003), and French physicist Francis Henri Jean Siegfried Perrin (right, 1901-1992). Joliot-Curie, the daughter of Marie Curie, was a commissioner for the French atomic energy commission (CEA) and her husband was its first High Commissioner. Surdin worked for the CEA from 1946, playing a crucial role in its development. Perrin, the son of Jean Baptiste Perrin, was High Commissioner of the CEA from 1951 to 1970.Restrictions:
