Caption: Founding Caltech scientists. Taken in 1919, this photograph shows, from left to right: US chemist Arthur Amos Noyes (1866-1936), US astronomer George Ellery Hale (1868-1938) and US physicist Robert Andrews Millikan (1868-1953). They are at the Norman Bridge Physics Laboratory, at soon-to-be named California Institute of Technology (Caltech), California, USA. At the time, Caltech was known as the Throop College of Technology, but became Caltech in 1921.
