Late 19th Century image of a farmer near the base of Puy de Dome, the highest and youngest of several volcanoes found in the eroded Chaine Des Puys volcanic hills in the Auvergne region of France. Puy de Dome itself is a lava dome, with the summit at an elevation of 1464 metres above sea level. It last erupted circa 5760 BC.
