Caption: Heydon's New Astrology. This 1785 diagram is the frontispiece to the 1786 London edition of 'A New Astrology' by the English author Christopher Heydon (1561-1623). The title proclaims that the diagram shows: 'the 12 Houses of Heaven and their Significations with the Planets in their own Houses'. The 12 houses are named, along with artworks for six of them, 12 animal signs for the zodiac, and signs for the 5 known planets and the Moon and Sun (centre). The compass points are also given. The Sun is surrounded by a biblical quotation: 'I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions' (Proverbs 8:12).
