Caption: Pterosaur fossil. Fossilised remains of a young Pterodactylus sp. pterosaur (upper left). Pterodactylus were flying reptiles that lived during the Late Jurassic period (150-148 million years ago) and were the first pterosaur genus to be identified. They had elongated jaws with teeth, a long tail and a wingspan of up to 1.5 metres. This specimen is only about 20cm across and therefore not fully grown.
