Caption: Cosmonaut preparing for space flight. Aleksei Arkhipovich Leonov (b. 1934) photographed a few hours before flying on the Voskhod 2 mission of March 18/19 1965. Leonov flew with Pavel Belyayev. During the mission, Leonov made a 12-minute spacewalk while Belyayev remained inside the spacecraft. Whilst outside, the pressure in Leonov's spacesuit rose to a point where he was unable to bend any joints and was unable to enter the airlock. He had to bleed off some of the pressure to make the suit flexible.
