Caption: Radio telescope. View of some of the elements of the Ukrainian T-shaped Radio Telescope (UTR-2). UTR-2 comprises 2040 of these elements laid out in two arms that form a huge T-shape on the ground. It is the world's largest radio telescope operating in decametre wavelengths (frequencies of 8-40Mhz). The telescope covers 1800 metres x 900 metres and has a collecting area of 150,000 square metres. It was built near the Ukrainian town of Gravko in the 1970s.
