Caption: Load testing. The fuselage of a MiG-29 fighter aircraft undergoing static load testing. Cables are attached to various points on the fuselage to simulate the load profile from a typical flight cycle. The fuselage is repeatedly stressed as if it had flown until any component fails. This determines the fatigue life of the fuselage. The Mikoyan MiG-29 (NATO reporting name Fulcrum) is a 4th-generation air superiority fighter that entered service in 1983. Over 1600 have been built and are in service in Russia, India, Ukraine, Germany and other countries. Photographed at the Mikoyan factory near Moscow.
