Caption: Jellyfish body forms, artwork. At left is the polyp body form, which arises from sexual reproduction. It is a sessile stage, attached to the seabed or another surface. The mouth is at the top of the polyp, surrounded by tentacles. After a growth phase the polyp begins reproducing asexually and immature jellyfish bud from it. These mature into adult jellyfish, or medusas (right), which are either male or female.
