Combined with magnets, this rotation generates electricity. Weighing 75 tons, this turbine rotor is part of the new power unit at TGK-1's Southern Thermal Power Station, St Petersburg, Russia. TGK-1 (also called TGC-1) is a Russian power generating company. Photographed in 2010.
