Caption: St. Thomas' Hospital. 18th century engraving of St. Thomas' Hospital in Southwark, London. St. Thomas' was founded in the 12th century, but these buildings date from the late 17th century. The medical school was founded in 1550, The hospital was moved to Lambeth in 1871 and now sits opposite the Houses of Parliament on the banks of the River Thames. Engraving from Chamberlain's 'A New and Complete History and Survey of the Cities of London and Westminister' printed at London in 1770.
