Caption: Anton Flettner (1885-1961), German aviation engineer and inventor. Flettner made important contributions to aeroplane and helicopter design. During World War I he worked on developing remote control and pilot-less aircraft. During World War II he headed the company 'Anton Flettner, Flugzeugbau GmbH', which specialised in helicopters. After the war he invented the Flettner rotary ventilator that was widely used on many vehicles to assist cooling without the use of energy.
