Caption: Mouldy tomato. Macrophotograph of a rotten tomato. The red surface is seen covered in Penicillium sp. mould. The white strands of fungus, called hyphae, make up the mycelium and obtain nutrients for the sporangia. These produce the spores, and are seen as small, white, star shapes. The grey- green colour is produced by the reproductive spores. Magnification: x3.3 at 35mm size.
