Surgeon works with Operating Department Practice nurse (ODP) to make the first implantation in the UK of a binaural cochlear hearing device in a woman with severe hearing difficulties. He is preparing the site to house a receiver and electrode array behind the ear of the patient. Stimulation of this bilateral combination by electrical signals should allow perception of normal stereo hearing for the patient.
