Caption: Edoardo Perroncito (1847–1936), Italian physician, veterinarian and parasitologist. Perroncito is credited, along with Luigi Pagliani (1847–1931) and Camillo Bozzolo (1845–920) for discovering that hookworm (Anchylostoma duodenale) was the cause of anaemia affecting workmen building the St. Gotthard Railway in Switzerland.
