Caption: Computer simulation of a neutral Z particle "multijet" event in the L3 detector at CERN, the European centre for particle physics near Geneva. L3 is one of 4 giant particle detectors at the LEP electron-positron collider. The white outlines represents the cylindrical L3 detector. The coloured boxes represent the energy deposited in L3's hadron calorimeter. The coloured lines are the tracks of particles created in an electron- positron annihilation that created a neutral Z particle. The Z decayed into a quark & antiquark which, in turn, decayed into other particles that travelled outwards in the clusters, or "jets", of tracks shown in the display.
