Caption: Powdery mildew. Leaves of a pea plant infected with powdery mildew (Erysiphe pisi). This fungus takes its name from the numerous white spores it produces, which give its hosts' leaves the powdery appearance seen here. It is an agricultural pest which parasitizes leaves of certain grass, cereal and vegetable plants. It can be controlled with fungicide chemicals.
