Caption: Particle collision. Computer display of the spray of particles created in an electron-positron collision in the L3 detector at CERN, the European centre for particle physics near Geneva. L3 is one of 4 giant particle detectors at the LEP electron-positron collider. The display shows the cylindrical L3 central detector in white. The variously coloured boxes mark "hits" by particles in the detector's various instruments. The coloured lines are the tracks of the particles created in the electron-positron annihilation.
