Caption: Two-jet event. Computer display of a particle collision in the DELPHI detector at CERN, the European centre for particle physics near Geneva. DELPHI is one of 4 giant particle detectors at the LEP electron- positron collider. The display shows elements of the cylindrical DELPHI detector in red. The blue lines represent the tracks of particles recorded by the detector's instruments. Most of the particles fly off in opposite directions, as if in two jets; this is typically the signature of the decay of a quark and its antiquark, which have been created in the electron-positron annihilation.
