Caption: Fin whale (Balaenoptera physalus). The blowhole and the right-hand side of the jaw is seen here. This individual's jaw is unusually dark-coloured for a fin whale. This whale can grow up to 27 metres in length and weigh 70 tonnes. It is a filter-feeder, feeding on small fish, squid, and crustaceans. Photographed in the Gulf of California, a body of water between the Mexican mainland and Baja California.
