This plane was originally designed and built in 1908 and was made of oak and poplar covered in cloth. The first Bleriot XIs entered military service in Italy and France in 1910, with the British Royal Flying Corps using them from 1912. Photographed in a field in Aldershot, Hampshire, UK.
