Caption: Boris Pavlovich Konstantinov (1910-1969), Soviet physicist. Konstantinov worked in several areas, including acoustics, nuclear physics, plasma physics and astrophysics. He spent most of his career working at the Physicotechnical Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1927-1935, 1940-1967), serving as its Director from 1957 to 1967. He was elected to the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1953, becoming a full member in 1960, and Vice-President from 1967. His awards include Hero of Socialist Labour, the USSR State Prize, the Lenin Prize, and the Order of the Red Banner of Labour. Photographed in Moscow, Russia, in 1968.
