Caption: Boris Fedorovich Lomov (1927-1989), Soviet psychologist. Lomov exerted a controlling influence over the development of psychology in the USSR, and attempted to export Soviet psychology abroad. He studied at Leningrad State University, graduating in 1951 and becoming Dean of the Faculty of Psychology there in 1966. By 1972 he was Director of the Institute of Psychology of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He was elected a Corresponding Member of the Academy in 1976. His awards included the Order of the Badge of Honour. Photographed at Leningrad State University, Leningrad (now renamed St Petersburg), Russia, in 1967.
