Caption: Brachiopod fossil (Unispirifer sp.). Unispirifer had a worldwide distribution during the Carboniferous Period, and grew to a width of about 120 mm. It was an articulate brachiopod with a wide, straight hinge and ribbed, convex valves. In this photo, the larger pedicle valve can be seen behind the brachial valve.
