Caption: Fossil echinoids (Clypeaster sp.), found in Upper Eocene to Recent strata all over the world. Clypeaster lived in great colonies, and is often fossilized in groups. These specimens are 120 mm in diameter. Species of Clypeaster still live today in shallow, tropical seas, burrowing slightly into the loose seabed sediments.
