Caption: Oyster fossil (Gryphaea arcuata), found worldwide from the Upper Triassic to the Upper Jurassic. Gryphaea was a sedentary oyster with very unequal valves; one is large and curved, the other, small and almost flat. It grew to 160 mm long, and lived in shallow water.
