Caption: Cave woodlouse. Close-up of two Armadillidium sp. woodlice found only in the Movile Cave, Romania. Life in this cave has been cut off from the outside world for the past 5.5 million years. These terrestrial crustaceans have evolved in total darkness over that time and have lost their eyes and skin colouring as a result. They find their way around using only their antennae.
