Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Bowel cancer screening technician holds a test kit card submitted by a screening programme participant. Inside are faecal specimens on a guaiac impregnated filter paper. The guaiac reacts with hydrogen peroxide to show the presence of blood. Such an indication would show the need for further tests to establish the possible presence of polyps or colorectal (bowel) cancer. This card shows no blue reaction and so involves no further action at this time. Blue colouration above the specimens is a control, to ensure that the test is performing normally.
