Caption: Bai textile dyeing, China. Bai dyer (right) using a vat of blue dye to colour a white textile item (left). Two washes (one blue and one green) will be used to create the traditional long-lasting colours. This is a family craft, with the workers all from the same family. The Bai people are an ethnic minority population in China, mostly living in the area in and around Dali City and Erhai Lake, in China's south-western Yunnan Province.
