Caption: Tatyana Ivanovna Zaslavskaya (born 1927), Soviet economist. Zaslavskaya's work as a theoretician with Abel Gyozevich Aganbegan (born 1932) at the Novosibirsk Institute of Economics in the late 1980s, led in part to Gorbachev's policy of 'perestroika'. This was the restructuring of the Soviet political and economic system. Zaslavskaya is a member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, director of the Institute of Economy and Industrial Organization of the Siberian branch of the Academy, and member of the board of directors of the International Foundation for the Survival and Development of Humanity. Photographed in Moscow, Russia, in 1988.
