Caption: Istanbul Province, Turkey, satellite image. North is towards top. The province crosses the Bosphorus Strait (centre). Parts of other provinces are seen to the east and west. The Black Sea (upper frame) is connected to the Sea of Marmara (lower frame, part of the Mediterranean Sea) by this strait that in places is only 660 metres wide. Iznik Lake is at lower right. Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey, lies at the lower end of the Bosphorus. The Bosphorus is considered to be the boundary between Europe (left) and Asia (right).
