Caption: Jersey and Guernsey. Infrared SPOT-2 satellite image of the islands of Jersey (lower right) and Guernsey (at upper left). They are part of the Channel Islands group, and a Crown Dependency of the UK. North is towards the top. In the infrared range, green vegetation appears red, bare sand is light blue, buildings are grey, water is black. North of Jersey is Les Ecrehou, a chain of "islets" revealed here at low tide. St. Helier is the capital of Jersey situated on its south coast. Both islands are a patchwork of cultivated fields, and each have an aircraft runway. Mainland France is at top right. Image taken in May.
