Caption: Twin cloud system. False-colour satellite image of unusual cloud formations associated with a North Atlantic depression. Parts of the UK and continental Europe are visible at bottom right. The upper half of this twin system is due to a deep low pressure area and its associated depression. The strength of the winds rotating anticlockwise around the low pressure (left of centre), has drawn air from a weaker depression out of frame to the left. This has caused the second stream of cloud, seen toward lower left. This image was made in visible light by the NOAA 11 satellite on 11 July 1991.
