Caption: High-level cirrus clouds or "mares' tails". Unlike lower-level clouds, which are composed of water droplets, cirrus clouds are composed of ice crystals. They occur at heights of up to 50,000 feet (15,000 metres) and take the form of feathery plumes, tufts & streaks.
