Caption: Mare's tail clouds. These wispy clouds are cirrus. They are composed of tiny ice crystals and are found at altitudes of 6000 to 15,000 metres. They are often associated with approaching frontal systems, and as such may be viewed as the precursor to cloudy weather. Photographed near Tamworth, Australia.
