Caption: Cirrus clouds. Cirrus clouds are found at high altitudes, typically above 5000 metres. They consist of tiny ice crystals. The character- istically wispy shapes of cirrus clouds are produced as the ice crystals are blown by strong winds. A bank of cirrus clouds may indicate an approaching weather front. Photographed over British Columbia, Canada.
