Caption: Coastal cloud streets, satellite image. North is at top. Clouds are white. Long rows of cumulus clouds (cloud streets) are aligned parallel to the low-level winds blowing perpendicular to the coast. This area is the New England coast in the north-western Atlantic Ocean. Part of Canada is at upper left, with part of the USA at centre left. Large parts of the land are covered in snow. Image obtained by the MODIS instrument on the Terra satellite, on 17 January 2007.
