Caption: Melting permafrost, Iceland. Aerial view of permafrost melting in central Iceland. During the summer months, the ice locked up in the permafrost thaws and forms pools of meltwater. The water in this region supplies the River Thjorsa which at 230 kilometres long, is the second longest river in Iceland.
