Caption: Image of the optical atmospheric effect known as a corona around the lunar disc. It consists of one or more rings located symmetrically around the Moon and is caused by the diffraction of light passing through water droplets. The rings usually extend for a few lunar radii and the width of each ring is inversely related to the diameter of the water droplets causing it. The same phenomenon may be seen around the solar disc.
