Caption: Drought. Dried and cracked mud with a volunteer canola (Brassica napus) plant growing in the cracks. Floodwater deposited mud onto the field, which later dried and shrank causing the ground to crack and preventing plant growth. Flooding and drought can cause severe crop damage. Photographed in Red River Valley, Manitoba, Canada.
