Within each thallus are round, hollow reproductive structures (conceptacles) which are hermaphrodite, containing both male and female reproductive organs. The smaller male antheridia (pink) occur in clusters; large female sporangia (orange) contain oogonia which can be fertilised. Cells making up the thallus (blue, green) are also visible. Halidrys siliquosa is a marine alga found on European shores in the colder north Atlantic. Magnification: x10 at 35mm size. Magnification: x39 at 4x5inch size.
