Caption: Hurricane Florence. Photograph of the clouds associated with Hurricane Florence, taken from Space Shuttle Atlantis during Mission STS-66 of 3- 14 November 1994. This is a very typical hurricane system; a large-scale spiralling line of clouds over an intense weather front (bottom), a dense disc of thick clouds covering the storm region and a small, clear 'eye' at the centre of the storm. Hurricane Florence is seen here over the Atlantic Ocean some 600 kilometres from the coast of Bermuda.
