Caption: Hurricane Isabel on the east coast of the USA. This image was taken at 12:45 GMT on 18th September 2003. The outline of the US coast and the state boundaries are shown as black lines, with Florida at lower left and the states of New England at upper centre. Hurricane Isabel was classified as a category 5 hurricane, the strongest type, a few days before it hit the coast. Although it had weakened a little by this time, its winds were still constant at over 160 kilometres per hour, with stronger gusts.
